Overview

Sea Foam sculpture for Huntington Beach, CA. This work was inspired by the Pacific Ocean. It represents union of water and air under energy/pressure of natural forces.
Carrara marble, 11.5' high, 13,000 lbs.

Goals

The sculpture was intended to be a focal point in the park at Pacific City, Huntington Beach, CA. Client was looking for a sea-related form. They found one of my small previous works that became a prototype for the final design. The sculpture was installed in 2016.

Process

First I was invited to see the site and prepare a concept. Working with project managers and landscape architects, we determined that based on project goals Carrara marble was the preferred medium and I encouraged the client to increase the size of the sculpture to better fit the surrounding landscape. Once the details were worked out with client approval, we moved on to design commitee approval and finally city approval.
