Overview

The BMO National Mural Series is a program launched by BMO in partnership with STEPS, connecting local artists to BMO branches across Canada to beautify spaces and foster strong community relationships through the power of public art.

Goals

The aim of this multi-year mural series is to beautify and activate spaces through the power of public art following BMO’s Purpose to Boldly Grow the Good in Business and in Life. This series is dedicated to the building, investing and supporting of the communities where BMO branches are a part of and to engage with local artists to create artwork that captures the surrounding community.

Process

STEPS Public Art manages the artist selection process, facilitates the design and approval stage, as well as final photo documentation of the final artworks with BMO branch staff and artists. The artists selected are typically local to the community where the BMO branch is located with specific themes identified to guide artists in the creation of the artwork.

Additional Information

From painted and digital murals, sculptural artwork, and other mediums, the BMO National Mural Series pushes artistic boundaries to animate interior and exterior spaces that are frequently visited by community members. Making bank visits more welcoming and fun, this series demonstrates the power of public art in turning everyday spaces into vibrant places. This series is still on-going since 2021.
