Overview
Clippinger Chemistry Lab, Ohio University, Athens, OH. An Ohio Arts Council % for art project.
Theme of the subjects taught within the Lab: chemistry, bio-sciences, physics, geology, geography.
Goals
Clippinger faculty & university wanted a large scale sculpture to speak to the subjects taught within and to activate the site and make it identifiable.
Process
I designed the sculpture and worked with landscape architect Roger Beal ASLA who designed that aspect: including a dry stone stream bed with indigenous plantings.
Additional Information
The stainless steel sculpture, 27 ft. hi., with black granite base with laser engraved chemistry formulas on one side; physics formulas on the second and geology and geography on the third side. Included is a 12 ft. hi. 21 ton moraine boulder in reference to the geology and geography depts.
