Overview

A shimmering suspended mechanical structure that responds to proximity and movement, Ensemble demonstrates how collective interactions can create a positive and unique outcome. Pleated paper pixels are activated in unison with the sound, expanding with more intensity and volume as the viewer moves closer to them. The programming has been designed to interact differently based on movements.

Participants are encouraged to work together as triggers add harmonious musical layers whilst the animations start to create new possibilities in response to the behaviour below using Microsoft’s AI learning algorithms.

Goals

An audiovisual analogy demonstrates how Microsoft employs AI to generate positive and distinctive outcomes in the environment around us. This experience encapsulates the synergy between technology and user, fostering a sense of trust and collaboration.

We employed mechanical actuated blossoming origami paper sculptures to interact with the participants, providing them with a familiar yet novel and playful analog experience.

We specialize in bridging the gap between technology and creativity. By integrating elements of industrial design, mechanics, and digital fabrication with the latest in body tracking technology from Microsoft, we are able to use AI to create intelligent empathetic interactions and responses.

Based on the success and high levels of engagement of the first excursion, Microsoft asked us to present the piece multiple times as the central showcase piece to of their keynote events.
