Overview

Fab.com came to me to solve a creative problem: How to display their vast, assorted collection of goods for sale in a chic and clever way? Being that this was a pop-up holiday shop in New York City, the solution came to me immediately: Use NYC as the muse! I had them build shelving for little “apartments” where each unique piece of merchandise could be displayed. After the shelves were built and painted, I drew classic New York City apartment architectural details to turn each bookcase into an apartment.

Goals

The goal of this commission was for me to find a way to make a diverse assortment of merchandise look visually appealing and be easily shopable by a New York City customer.

Process

I worked with the director of Fab.com and came up with the concept for the design of their holiday pop-up shop. She had builders on hand who could build the shelves that I designed, and I worked on site to complete the installation.

Additional Information

As a native New Yorker, architecture fanatic and dollhouse fan, this commission was a home run for me! The location of this holiday pop-up shop was the Lower East Side of New York City, so I used that specific architecture as inspiration.
